Don’t’ Women Pelotons deserve the same visibility and fame as men pelotons? Yes, yes, yes! That is the wish of the Van Rysel teammate.
At 26, Perrine Chudy is a member of the Van Ryse communication team. She cycles road bikes for two years and likes it since her childhood. “My dad was a professional cyclist at a very high level, champion of France, and my brother cycles too. I thought I should give it a try”. It was difficult to start up with (she fell because of the automatic toe-clips), but Perrine persisted in cycling. Her first race in 2019: Lille-Hardelot, more than 7 000 participants, more than 160 kilometers, and 1 300 positive elevation meters. Surpassing herself, she loves challenges each time she cycles on her Ultra Carbone Ultegra. “What I like the most is my own evaluation. Sometimes, it is hard but I follow the evolution of my stats.” Loving speed and sprint, during the lockdown Perrine has carried on training and developing women cycling with capital F: “ While Home training, I was part of women races with women cyclists from all over the world with some apps !”
More and more women are road cycling. For Perrine, creating women’s range at Van Rysel represents a major step. A 100% women team works to develop fabrics and bikes, especially for women cyclists. “I was an ambassador for Van Rysel before joining the brand team, I already wanted to help the creative teams and share my opinion at any kind of level”. With 35 other Van Rysel collaborators, she works with Guillaume Drocourt and Cyril Saugrain and spends a lot of energy bringing feminine style within cycling: “ We had two Instagram accounts, one for women another one for men called Van Rysel. To place women and men on the same level in any public communication, I decided with Louise and Quentin from Triban brand, to put together the two accounts and only communicate with this one. The Van-Rysel Instagram account presents now men and women practices and has 17 000 followers. Parity is getting a reality on Insta, and it is great news.
